FAQ

What is the blackjack matchup simulator?

It simulates one specific player hand against a dealer upcard under your chosen rules. You get EV, RTP, and confidence intervals for Hit, Stand, Double, Split, or Surrender so you can compare close decisions with numbers instead of guesswork.

Can I compare Hit, Stand, Double, and Split on the same hand?

Yes. Turn on Compare Mode, select the actions you want, and run once. The simulator uses the same rules and sampling setup for each branch so you can see which line has the best EV and how much one action improves over another.

What does EV per hand mean in matchup results?

EV per hand is the expected profit or loss for that decision averaged over many trials, usually shown in betting units and currency. It is the fastest way to compare two close plays even when individual simulated outcomes look noisy.

What is RTP in matchup simulation results?

RTP means return to player: total return divided by total amount wagered over the run. In matchup mode it is another view of how favorable an action is under your exact rule set and sampling method.

How many simulation runs should I use for a reliable matchup result?

More runs generally tighten confidence intervals. Quick directional checks can use smaller samples; borderline decisions and publishable comparisons benefit from larger run counts when your plan allows them.

What is the difference between fast spot sampling and reference shoe sampling?

Fast spot sampling is quicker for testing a scenario directionally. Reference shoe sampling is slower but closer to a fuller shoe-based draw when you want a more grounded benchmark for the same cards and rules.

Can I simulate a decision at a specific true count?

Yes. Advanced options let you enter a true count directly and use shoe-conditioning controls for count-based spots. That is useful when the correct play depends on count rather than only the visible cards.

How do H17, DAS, surrender, and deck count change matchup EV?

These rules change player expectation, so the best action and the size of the edge can shift between casinos. Matchup mode is built for exactly that kind of ruleset-specific testing.

Can I export matchup or compare results?

Yes, when export access is available on your plan. You can export matchup summaries, compare runs, and related CSV outputs to audit results outside the app.

When should I use Custom Strategy instead of Matchup?

Use Matchup for one hand and one decision tree. Move to Custom Strategy when you need full-shoe backtests, counting systems, deviation sets, bet ramps, SCORE, or side-by-side system comparisons.
